GUWAHATI, Dec 20: Sickening though, the finger is being pointed at many militant outfits in the Northeast for making children opt to take guns in their hands at a time when they are supposed to develop their physical and mental faculties through the right education. Dr. Sangita Rani Kalita, an assistant professor of Bishnuram Medhi Law College, had to slog her guts out to depict a picture of a section of children of Assam, galand and Manipur being used by militants for their secessionist designs.

‘Hilaini Lama’ is the me of a book written by Dr. Kalita after her over five-year-long research on the misuse of children by militants in the three north-eastern States. The Dimasa words ‘hilaini lama’ mean opting to the path of the gun in Assamese. The book, the product of her research work, was today released at a simple function at Gauhati Town Club by Justice BK Sarma in the presence of NBT Director Rita Choudhury, Prof. Subhram Rajkhowa and senior jourlists Haider Hussain and Ajit Kumar Bhuyan.
