Scorching Heat Experienced As Mercury Soars In Assam, Parts Of Northeast

A record high maximum temperature was reported at many stations over Northeast India on Thursday, RMC (Regional Meteorological Centre) sources said.

In Silchar, the maximum temperature of 39.6° C is the second highest record for July.

The record highest maximum temperature is 39.8°C recorded on July 19, 2018, in Silchar.

Similarly, in Guwahati, the maximum temperature of 38.1° C is the second highest record for July. The record for highest maximum temperature is 38.4° C recorded on July 18, 2018.

Coming to Shillong, the city recorded the 5th highest temperature for July in 17 years. On Thursday, the maximum temperature in Shillong was 28.5°C.

The record for highest maximum temperature is 29.7°C recorded on July 9, 2005.

In Shora, the maximum temperature of 28.5°C is the second highest record for July. The record for highest maximum temperature is 30.3°C recorded on July 20, 2018.

Meanwhile, the IMD officials have asked people to take precautions as temperatures are set to remain high for a few days.
