GUWAHATI, Nov 6: Tapash Baishya, a resident of Sampriti Path along the Kahilipara Road near Ganesh Mandir under Ward No. 59 in the city, has been following the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan call of Prime Minister rendra Modi in true spirit of the sense.
On his own, Baishya has been keeping the path and his area with as many as 25 houses clean. He has put over 20 green dustbins on the sides of the path himself and loads them to the garbage carrying vans of the GMC himself. He has also displayed banners on the sides of the path appealing to the people to keep their area clean.
When Modi made the call, hundreds and thousands of people took to the streets wielding brooms, but as time passes by, the wave vanishes in thin air. Baishya, however, has kept the flames kindled by the Prime Minister still burning.
"With the wave of Swachch Bharat Abhiyan getting waned, the people have forgotten their urge for cleanliness latent in them. Even NGOs' cleanliness drives have come to a grinding halt. I think if everybody comes forward to keep his/her area clean, the entire country will wear a clean environment," Baishya said.
The local people are happy with what Baishya is doing.
