'Among the 98 smart cities the PM has announced in the country, Assam has got only one against 12 in Uttar Pradesh, 12 in Tamil du, six in Gujarat, etc. We ask the Prime Minister as to why he hasn’t included Dibrugarh, Bongaigaon and Tezpur in the list. We are ready to give fitting replies to each and every neglect meted out to Assam'— Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad

GUWAHATI, August 28: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) today formed human chains all over the State in support of their demand for the implementation of inner-line permits in Assam.
This is the fourth such agitation this month by the Parishad that started such agitations from August 6. AJYCP president Biraj Kumar Talukdar and secretary Rapratap Baruah said in a statement issued to the press today that they would intensify their agitation in the days ahead.
The Parishad hailed the recent resolution taken by the Manipur Assembly for the implementation of inner-line permit in Manipur. “We demand that the Assam Assembly should also adopt such a resolution to make inner-line permit a reality in the State so as to secure the future of the people of the State,” they said, and added: “The decision to be taken by the Centre is a matter to be keenly watched.”
The Parishad leaders said that Prime Minister rendra Modi, who is vocal on his ‘love for Assam’, has showed what his love for Assam is. “Among the 98 smart cities he has announced in the country, Assam has got only one against 12 in Uttar Pradesh, 12 in Tamil du, six in Gujarat, etc. We ask the Prime Minister as to why he hasn’t included Dibrugarh, Bongaigaon and Tezpur in the list. We are ready to give fitting replies to each and every neglect meted out to Assam,” the Parishad leaders said.
