AJYCP stages 2-hour sit-in hunger strike

GUWAHATI, March 17: Demanding complete autonomy for Assam, dual-citizenship and Inner Line Permit System for non-indigenous people of the State, the Asom Jatiyabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad staged a sit-in hunger strike in Maligaon on Thursday. The demonstration was led by AJYCP Guwahati District Committee president Bhabesh Baishya. It may be mentioned that the AJYCP has been demonstrating 2 hour sit-in hunger strike throughout the State since January 1, 2016 and it would continue till December 31, 2016. Speaking to The Sentinel, Bhabesh Baishya said, “The demand for complete autonomy is legitimate and practical within the constitutiol framework of India. It will be a boon for the socio-economic development of the State. It will also ensure equal rights and justice for the ethnic groups of the State.” AJYCP adviser Kamal Bharali, AJYCP Guwahati District Committee general secretary Ariful Rahman and fince secretary Pintu Das also joined the demonstration on Thursday.
