GUWAHATI, March 3: Stching victory from the jaws of defeat in Tripura and galand the BJP offices in Assam, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati, are all smile. The State BJP leaders and workers have reasons to celebrate as around 4,000 leaders and cadres of the State BJP were at work to make the party win in the neighbouring States. They feel that their efforts have paid off.
No sooner poll had the results started coming out then BJP leaders and workers in Assam were in a jolly mood, distributing sweets among themselves. State Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal did take part in a number of such celebrations in the State. He visited Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan at Hengrabari in the city. He congratulated party workers and said: “The secret of the win of the BJP in the Northeast is the goodwill and development agenda which the Prime Minister has been fostering for the Northeast. This is why the people of the region sided with the BJP by taking it into confidence for the sake of politics of development and trust.”
Sonowal also went to the Uzan Bazar offcie of the party and congratulated the party’s Northeast organizing secretary Ajay Jamwal.
Meanwhile, State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass celebrated the win of the party at his constituency, Sorbhog along with his party leaders and workers amidst the celebration of Holi. He thanked voters of the three States of the Northeast for showing their support to the BJP. “Apart from being free from the Congress, the Northeast is now from the CPI-M as well,” he said, and added: “Good governce by the Prime Minister and development of the Northeast, besides strong political strategy of party’s tiol president Amit Shah, are the secret of the party’s win in the poll.”
Dass also congratulated party’s tiol general secretary Ram Madhab and secretary Ajay Jamwal (both of whom are in-charge of NE). He also thanked NEDA convener and party’s election in-charge in Tripura Himanta Biswa Sarma for the win of the party. Meanwhile, Dass announced that the party is going to celebrate win in the entire State on Sunday.
