GUWAHATI, July 21: A Guwahati quartet is in Bollywood style – Jahan chaar yaar mil jaayen wahin raat ho gulzar/ Mehfil rangeen jame dhoom mache daur chale/ Mast mast zar dekhe ye chamatkar/Jahan chaar yaar... – when it has come up with an innovative Android App – Ahija.com — that is set to help people eager to travel the Northeast – a lush green region crisscrossed with blue hills.

The App offers bikes on rent, extends weather forecast service, daily news updates on the north-eastern States, and the like.

One of the quartet, Upakul Talukdar who is the CEO of App, said: “As often as not, travelers are misguided in Assam and other States in the region. Majority of those who visit to the Northeast are passiote. They come to the region get situations that are conducive for their literary works, paintings, photography etc. It seems, the Northeast is a spot for some creative people when they are deserted by their respective muses. In such situations, such people flock the region to muse over their topics. This App is going to help them a lot. Our news desk keeps us feeding with news round the clock. We’re ready to update information at any moment.”

Bidya Sagar Dubey, the COO of the App, said: “With more footfalls on the Northeast such an App was the need of the hour. Our traveler friends do recommend our App. One of the reasons behind floating such an App is to promote tourism in the Northeast. This, indeed, will give the culture, cuisine, lifestyle, attires, folk life etc., of the region a boost. We’ve 20 bikes in mint condition, including a few Royal Enfields, at our disposal for rentals. There’re some travelers who prefer bikes to other modes of vehicles. We urge travel bloggers to provide us feedback with blogs and write-ups as we’ve a space for that in the App. The App also has a space to rate a place or tourist spot by the visitors.”
