GUWAHATI, Jan 1: Assamese Language and Software Development Centre came out with one of the most precious gifts of the New Year for the people of the State in the form of an Assamese-Anglo dictiory – Adhunik Asomiya-Engraji Obhidhan – at Guwahati Press Club today.
It was released by Sahityacharya Dr Ramesh Pathak, Dr. Shivth Barman and Dr. Phanindra rayan Dutta Baruah. The dictiory comprises 35,000 words and it was done with an eye on the need of the student community.
Speaking at the function, Dr. Pathak said: “Assamese society doesn’t have the culture of buying dictiory. This is a valuable gift for the New Year.” Dutta Baruah said: “Every Assamese should have a full dictiory if we’re to develop our language. We see the Assamese language with the spectacle of Bengali.”
