GUWAHATI, Jan 28: Assamese music has its takers among those who do not even know the language, and one such taker is Bollywood-famed singer Farhan Akhtar.

Akhtar, along with his band, is in Guwahati on Sunday when he is going to perform at Hockey Stadium at Bhetapara in the city.

Talking to newsmen at a city hotel on Sunday, Akhtar said: “There’s no dearth of scenic sights in Assam and the Northeast. To buttress what I said, I would like to cite Rock on II.”

When asked on Assamese music, Akhtar said: “I don’t know the language nor do I know Assamese songs. I, however, hear Assamese songs since I’m a good friend of Papon and very close to him. I like Assamese songs.”

Spelling out on his future projects, Akhtar said: “My films that have been lined up for release are Three Stories and Gold. While Three Stories is going to be released in February, Gold – a biopic of hockey star Balbir Singh – is set to be released in August 15 this year. Rima Kagti from Assam is also associated with Gold as its director, her third Bollywood venture. I hope I’ll continue to pull crowed in Assam as I always do here.”

Akhtar is known for his melodious numbers – rock on, senorita, dil chahata hai, zinda, no me a few.
