GUWAHATI, Dec 8: The All India Bangali Udbastu Sanjukta Sangram Committee (AIBUSSC), Sadou Asom Bangali Yuva-Chatra Federation (SABYCF) and the Sadou Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi Chatra Santha questioned the Centre as to why it failed to introduced a Bill, on the notification in this Winter Session of Parliament, issued by it on September 7 this year deciding, on humanitarian considerations, to exempt Bangladeshi and Pakistani tiols belonging to minority communities, who have entered India on or before December 31, 2014, in respect of their entry and stay in India without proper documents or after the expiry of relevant documents.

Addressing the press today, leaders of the three organizations said: “Actually there was no such notification. It was just a press release issued by the Centre to appease the Hindu Bengalis ahead of the Assembly elections in Assam. The Modi government is a liar. Before the last Lok Sabha elections, Modi said that he wouldn’t allow handing of land to Bangladesh. However, after coming to power at the Centre, the first thing he did is executing the land-swap deal with the neighbouring country. For his Cabinet colleague and State BJP president Sarbanda Sonowal, the Bengalis had to suffer much in the Brahmaputra Valley during the Assam Agitation.”

The three organizations have decided to stage an agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on December 17 after holding a tiol convention at the tiol capital on December 16 this year. The other demands of the organizations are giving citizenship to all Bengali Hindus, their inclusion in the NRC being updated and setting all Hindu Bengalis languishing in detention camps free.

AIBUSSC president Subhas Chandra Sarkar and general secretary Benimadhab Roy spoke at the press briefing.
