Bengali body observes Silver Jubilee

GUWAHATI, April 20: The All Assam Bengali Youth and Students’ Federation (AABTSF) celebrated its silver jubilee function at Khapara playground today.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi appealed all to work together for the wellbeing of all. “The Bengalis have many problems after the partition of the country. Those who have come to Assam after the partition of the country have to protected. This is their rights guaranteed by the Constitution of India,” Gogoi said.  State Irrigation Minister Chandan Sarkar was also present at the function.

Meanwhile, another faction of the federation led by Mahanda Sarkar Dutta also observed the day at District Library Auditorium with a day-long function. Specialist on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Bijan Singha, was honoured with ‘Jatiya Sanman of 2015’ by the federation at the function.

Meanwhile, the Federation decided to conduct drive in the state to bring about awareness on NRC update.
