GUWAHATI, April 27: State BJP on Thursday filed a complaint at Dispur police station in connection with post on Facebook by Deputy Superintendent of Police Anjan Bora,

Bora in his speech had alleged that a lady BJP MLA of Assam has been involved immoral activities at the Assam Secretariat.

The Facebook post by the police official has taken the entire state by a storm.

On the basis of the complaint, Dispur police registered a case (No-1023/17) on Thursday.

Condemning the incident, State BJP leader Dileep Saikia said, “Such a comment against a woman legislator is completely un called for. We have demanded an inquiry into it and action against the offender.”

The post in the social networking site has evoked reactions. State DGP Mukesh Sahay on Wednesday had written a letter to the Home Secretary urging him to take legal action against the DSP.

The post has proved it yet again that social media, a form of altertive media that has no ‘gatekeepers’, is fraught with the risk of violating all media ethics.
