GUWAHATI, Aug 31: Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Parshottam Khodabhai Rupala on Thursday said that there is a need to extend the deadline for crop insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yoja at the interest of the farmers of Assam.
The Union Minister said this in a review meeting here at Assam Administrative Staff College. He said that as the farmers of Assam continue the Kharif cropping till September, there is a need to extend the last dead for crop insurance till August 31 instead of July 31.
State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora in a memorandum to the Union Minister had appealed to take steps for extending the deadline for crop insurance till August 31 for the farmers of Assam.
