GUWAHATI, Oct 25: In order to tackle with the increasing filthiness of the city Guwahati Municipal Corporation is providing portable compactors which keep the capacity to take the garbage of five dustbins compacted in one dustbin.
Speaking to this reporter, GMC Commissioner Molisha Goswami said, “We’ve already provided enough number of dustbins in all the nook and corners of the city, but we still find it insufficient to load all the garbage of the city. So, we have provided the city with three portable compactors which have already been started at Sarabbhati near Sabi Pool.” “These portable compactors will have the capacity of taking five dustbins in one. Once one dustbin is full it will be compacted and the space for the next dustbin will be ready, and the process will go on,” Goswami added. She also said that they were working on battery-operated tippers which would be very beneficial for city people.
