GUWAHATI, Jan 4: Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF), partnered with Guwahati Blind High School, to set up the first Braille library for the visually impaired students in Guwahati today, announced Kamrup (M) DC M Angamuthu at the birth anniversary celebrations of Louis Braille in Guwahati.
The library will offer Braille versions of a variety of books & jourls ranging from academic books, fiction, self-help, general knowledge for the benefit of more than 100 visually impaired students who otherwise have limited access to books, a press release said.
Anggamuthu said: “I wholeheartedly appreciate Amway Opportunity Foundation, the CSR arm of Amway India, for coming forward and set up the first Braille Library in Guwahati Blind High School. I urge other organizations to come forward and support the visually impaired students in their endeavour.”
GS Cheema, Sr. vice president - North & East, Amway India, said, “We have been working tirelessly towards the welfare of the visually impaired with a firm belief that education and knowledge is the key to the future that create opportunities transcending physical limitations. A Braille library is a key component of that strategy. We are targeting to open as many 31 braille libraries over the next 2-3 months in India. We are delighted to have partnered with Guwahati Blind High School which is helping us set up this Braille library.”
