GUWAHATI, May 8: The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS) today immersed the effigies of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Prime Minister rendra Modi in the Grahmaputra today in protest against the passage of India-Bangladesh Land Swap Deal in Parliament.
The KMSS activists took a procession from Dighalipukhuripaar to Uzan Bazar ghat where they immersed the effigies of both the leaders. On their way to the ghat, the KMSS activists had a scuffle with the police. Since there was no women constables, the male police personnel had to tackle the women activists, and that led the KMSS to lodge an FIR at Latasil police station.
KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said that both the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister would be recalled by the people of Assam as anti-Assamese.
The protest was observed by KMSS activists in places like Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, gaon, Baksa, Tinsukia, Dhubri, Mangaldai, Sonitpur, Udalguri, Hailakandi, Karimganj etc.
