GUWAHATI, May 15: In a bizarre incident, the bodies of a woman and her son were recovered from the room of a city hotel after they were murdered by her husband. The deceased have been identified as Parveen Mazumdar and her son Rizwan Mazumdar.
The duo had taken up lodgings in Rajdhani Lodge in the city yesterday along with Parveen's husband, Bapon Mazumdar. The room was booked in the me of one Iqbal Bahar Laskar.
Later in the evening, the hotel authorities got a call from the Silchar Police to find out if everything was alright in Room No 2 - the room where the family was staying. Uble to get a response, the hotel authorities used a duplicate key to open the room and found the bodies of the mother and son along with a suicide note which stated that the entire family was committing suicide. The note also mentioned three mes in Silchar to whom the bodies should be handed over.
The Silchar Police was tipped off about the murder by Kamrul Islam Laskar, who is the elder brother of Bapon Mazumdar. The accused had allegedly called Kamrul and informed him about his misdeed.
Bapon Mazumdar has been in and out of jails for quite some time now. He had been released from jail only on April 27 last.
Given the tight security measures in city hotels nowadays, the question now arises as to how Bapon Mazumdar could mage to book a room by using a different me? This is something that both hotel authorities and the police should seriously introspect into.
