Mirza Chowk med after Mamoni

MIRZA, June 4: Mirza Chowk in South Kamrup has been med after noted Jnpeeth awardee writer Indira Goswami as 'Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami Chowk'. The noted writer did hail from Amranga Borihat near Mirza.  

A public meeting was held at Mirza Chowk today when newly elected BJP's Palasbari MLA Prab Kalita dedicated the Chowk to the renowned writer.

Earlier in the day, tribute was paid to the writer. The local MLA announced at the meeting that within 15 days the liquor and gambling dens and teer bookies would have to shut their shops in the area as that have their cascading effect on the new generation.

The MLA also laid the foundation stone of the road from Bijay gar to Uparhali PHC. He appealed to all businessmen of Mirza and Bijay gar to keep their surroundings clean.
