PAC to visit all districts to verify misuse of Government fund

Guwahati, Sept 1: The newly constituted Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Assam Legislative Assembly will visit every districts of Assam to monitor misuse of Government fund mentioned in the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report.

The 12-member PAC under the Chairmanship of Rajdeep Goala, Congress MLA from Lakhipur will visit all the districts in a phase manner.

Talking to The Sentinel, PAC Chairman Goala said that the decision to visit the districts was taken in a meeting of the committee held at the Assembly Secretariat on Thursday. “We will try to verify about the misuse of government funds mentioned in the CAG report. Some para of the report dates back to 1991.  The PAC will try to address the discrepancies in a phase manner after proper scrutiny and taking view of the concerned departments and CAG,” he stated. He further mentioned that a detailed discussion was held on the objections mentioned in the CAG report related to the misuse of fund in the agriculture department. “The CAG has reported on discrepancies in some schemes of the agriculture department. We will try to address the misuse mentioned in their report,” Goala remarked.
