MIRZA, Dec 6: The traditiol 69th Palasbari Raax Mohotsav concluded last night amidst the presence of devotees from different parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Aruchal Pradesh and West Bengal.
The festival was an 11-day affair that was iugurated by Acharya Bhrigugiri Moharaj of Panchakonyadham. There were 50 stalls that depicted the Raax Lita through clay idols of Srikrish and Gopis. A number of such stalls also used high-tech electric devices to show Srikrish’s paly with Brajagopis as live as possible.
There were various programmes like am prasanga, yatrabhinoy, and other cultural programmes. A souvenir, ‘Raax Krira’, was also released on the occasion. Besides covering Srikrish’s Raax Krira with Brajagopis, the souvenir also has articles on the history of tradition of Palasbari Raax Festival. The concluding function was attended by renowned writer Anuradha Sarma Pujari as the chief guest, and renowned singer Pulak Banerjee was felicitated.
The Mirza Raax Mohotsav at Mirza also concluded tonight. It was also extended by a day. Arati, am prasanga and other cultural programmes were held every day during the festival. Raax fair is an integral part of the mohotsav. The organizing committee thanked all for their cooperation during the mohotsav. They hope that they will continue to get such cooperation in the future as well. Raax Udjapon Committee president rayan Kalita and general secretary Umakanta Mali thanked the people for their support.
Meanwhile, the open gambling in the area during the 12-day festivals drew flak from a section of people.
