GUWAHATI, Feb 15: Expressing shocks over the recent developments erupted from New Delhi-based Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus with a section of students indulging in antitiol activities, a forum of patriotic people urged the authority to take stringent actions against anti-India elements. Regretting that a prestigious institute like JNU has virtually turned into a hotbed for separatist activities, where some of the students showed the audacity to organize a meeting to raise slogans against the hanging of Afzal Guru, the Patriotic People’s Front Assam (PPFA) also asked the people to be cautious over such developments.
The participating JNU students termed the execution of Guru on February 9, 2013 as a ‘judicial killing’. They also shouted slogans adorning Guru, who was punished for his involvement in 2001 Indian Parliament attack and subsequent murders after exhausted judicial process, as a ‘martyr’.
The meeting was organized on February 9 to commemorate Guru’s execution. Next day another commemorative meeting was organized at Press Club of India in New Delhi, where too anti-India slogans were raised. The press club authority had immediately stopped the press conference turned-lousy congregation and expelled the member concerned who booked the space in the club auditorium, misleading them. The Northeast India-based patriotic forum appreciated the Delhi Press Club authority for its prompt actions against the elements propagating anti-tiol outlook and also fervently urged the club authority to celebrate patriotic events like Independence Day and Republic Day in its campus regularly as it is observed by various media organizations across the country.
