GUWAHATI, March 24: “All private schools of Guwahati have to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court of India, the Regiol Transport Authority and the guidelines under the Right to Education from April 1, 2015. The buses of schools will have to follow traffic guidelines. The authority will start visiting schools in this respect from April 1, 2015,” said the magistrate in-charge of the city, Mukul Kathar, at a meeting held today at District Library among the district administration, the police administration and CBSE-affiliated private schools of the city. Additiol Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Prab J Goswami said: “Every school should have its own parking area in its premises. No school bus will be allowed to park on streets in the city.”
District Transport Officer (Enforcement) Munin Das said: “If the schools don’t do everything to follow the instructions before March 31, the Transport Department will take action on them from April 1.”
The Inspector of Schools, Kamrup (Metro) DC, Kamaljit Gogoi emphasized the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) in the schools. He said, “All schools have to implement the RTE properly.”
The principals of 133 CBSE-affiliated schools of the city took part at the meeting that was presided over by Prab J Goswami.
