GUWAHATI, Nov 24: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has demanded immediate removal of Governor PB Acharya from the State as his continuation in the gubertorial office is harmful for the State.

In a statement issued to the press today, APCC secretary Ritupar Konwar said: “Such a Governor can never bring about unity in society. Rather,  may divide society. We’ve nothing to say on it that he was an RSS pracharak earlier. What we want to make it clear is that holding the gubertorial office he shouldn’t act like an RSS pracharak. His statement – Hindustan is for Hindus –is set to disturb peace on the land of Sankar-Azan Fakir. He should be immediately removed from the gubertorial office.”

A few months back, members of the APCC staged a dhar in front of Raj Bhavan against the Governor’s comment at Silchar. And the latest comment from him has widened Raj Bhavan-Dispur gap ever more.

Meanwhile, the Governor is on leave for a few days.
