RFR collects Rs 36 crore from ticketless travellers

GUWAHATI, April 10: During the recently concluded fincial year 2016-17, N.F. Railway has detected 5,71,415 without ticket passengers against previous year’s achievement of 4,65,343. This is an increase of 22.79% over last year. Further, the pelty earning has increased to Rs. 36.12 crore as against Rs. 30.05 crore of last year an increase of 20.19%. N.F.Railway officials have been conducting surprise ticket checking drive in Mail Express and passenger trains. As per section 137, of the Indian Railway Act of 1989, travelling without ticket, improper ticket or un-booked luggage in an offence punishable by imprisonment or fine or both. To discourage ticketless travelling, Northeast Frontier Railway has put systems in place whereby surprise ticket checking drive is conducted by Flying Ticket Checking Squads of Divisions as well as HQ. Fortress checks are also conducted in stations. For this officers are nomited at HQ and Divisiol levels from different department who are accompanied by security persol from Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police. General Mager, N.F.Railway has instructed all to keep up the momentum of such drive so that ticketless travelling is discouraged and bofide travellers can have a smooth journey.
