Roadshow on world food held

GUWAHATI, Aug 17: The Union Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) ministry in collaboration with the department of Industries and Commerce and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), organized a roadshow on the forthcoming ‘World Food India, 2017’ here on Thursday.
The roadshow was held in view of the mega intertiol event which will be held in New Delhi from November 3-5 next, for transforming the food economy of India. 
The event will provide a platform for both investment and trade in the food processing sector for both tiol and intertiol companies. It may be mentioned that Assam will participate as a ‘Focus State’ in the event.
Addressing the gathering of industrialists and entrepreneurs, Industries and Commerce Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary said, “Food Processing sector in Northeast region is one of the priority areas and Prime Minister envisages turning it into an organic hub promoting employment and entrepreneurship avenues.’  
The Minister thanked the MoFPI for organising this roadshow in Guwahati for bringing about awareness regarding the intertiol event for the benefit of the local entrepreneurs, farmers and other stakeholders so as to ensure maximum participation from Assam and the other North Eastern States.
The Minister urged the Minister of State, MoFPI, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, to set up four new food parks for promoting food process industries in the State and to host the tiol food fair event in Assam.
Minister of State, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, agreed to the proposal to host the tiol event in Assam and assured that she would take up the matter of setting up new Food Parks in Assam with the concerned ministry. 
She emphasised that economy of North-East has to flourish for overall development of the tion and hoped that the food economy will double a farmer’s income by 2022.
