GUWAHATI, March 24: The Nikhil Bharat Swarshilpi Samiti (SBSS) today appealed to the State Government to set guidelines for buying and selling of gold from the public without which goldsmiths have to face untold suffering when any gold they buy from public turns out to be stolen gold. “Since there are no guidelines set for buying and selling of gold by goldsmiths from the public, we bear the brunt of unnecessary harassment by the police when gold bought by us is turned out to be stolen gold,” the Samiti said, and added that it had already filed a writ petition in the Gauhati High Court in 2014 in this regard.
