St. Mary's HS school steals the show in city

GUWAHATI, May 31: St. Mary’s HS School, Guwahati has a strong reason to feel proud this year. As many as 12 students do the school proud by making it to the top 20 positions in the just declared High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examition results. The results of the Assam High Madrassa (AHM) examitions were also declared today along with that of the HSLC.

The 12 students of the school who could book their respective berths in the top 20 merit list in the HSLC examition this year are Rajashree Parashar (6th), yanika Baruah (8th), Priyakshi Goswami (9th), Shrestha Medhi, Tandrali Choudhury and Upasa Borah (10th), Violi Thakuria (12th), Anindita Talukdar (13th), Rajashree Barman and Sushmita Bothra (14th), and Swati Lahkar (15th) and Basmita Borah (16th).

This is not all. All of the 161 students who took the HSLC examitions from the school this year secured first division, including 30 distinction holders and 24 star mark holders. As many as 11 students of the school secured 100 out of 100 in general mathematics. They are yanika Baruah, Priyakshi Goswami, Rajashree Barman, Rajashree Parashar, Sharmishtha Roy, Shrabanika Kashyap, Shrestha Medhi, Shyamalima Talukdar, Suranjita Das, Tandrali Choudhury and Upasa Borah. While Mehvish Farooq of the school secured 100 out 100 in computer science, Bhupali Das, Saswati Kataki and Shreshtha Medhi secured 100 out of 100 in dance. Shreshtha Medhi also secured 100 out of 100 in social science. While as many as 160 students of the secured letters marks in English, 127 got letter marks in general science, 121 in general mathematics, 132 in social studies, 38 in advanced mathematics, 99 in computer science, 69 in Assamese and 10 in Hindi.

Holding the 6th rank, Rajashree Parashar secured a total of 582 out 600 marks. She is the daughter of Dr. Jitendra Kumar Chakravarty and Biju Devi of Rajgarh Road in the city. She wants to give the credit of her success to the contribution of her parents and teachers. Sharing her feeling with The Sentinel, she expressed her concern over the rising crimes and drug paddling in the State. She wants to live in a society free from corruption. She wants to serve people as a doctor.

Ranked 8th, yanika Baruah secured 579 out 600. She wants to continue her studies in science stream either in Sankardev Academy or Army School in Guwahati. She does not feel that Facebook and WhatApp have any bad effect on students. She also wants to be a doctor.

Ranked 9th, Priyakshi Goswami secured 577 out of 600.

Ranked 10th, Shrestha Medhi secured 576 out of 600. She is the daughter of SEBA employee Krish Kanta Medhi and Putuli Medhi. She wants to be an IAS officer.

Also ranked 10th, Tandrali Choudhury secured 576 out of 600 marks. She is the daughter of Dipankar Choudhury and Ranu Choudhury of Bharalumukh in the city. She wants to be an engineer.

Upasa Borah, also ranked 10th, is the daughter of RBI employee Bijay Bora and Lakshmimoni Tamuli of Hengrabari in the city.

Ranked 12th, Violi Thakuria secured 574 out of 600 marks. She said she is yet to decide her aim in life. She has extended a tip for her younger that self-confidence is the key to success.   

Ranked 13th, Anindita Talukdar secured 573. She wants to be an engineer.

Ranked 14th, Rajashree Barman secured 572 out of 600. She is the daughter of Jamini Barman and Bobita Barman. She wants to be a doctor. She said that concept study makes it easier for one to answer any questions.   

Also ranked 14th, Sushmita Bothra wants to be an IAS officer. She feels that her performance is not up to her expectations.

Ranked 15th Swati Lahkar secured 571 out of 600 marks. She is the daughter of Gautam Lahkar and Rubi Lahkar of Bharalumukh in the city.

Ranked 16th Basmita Borah secured 570 out of 600 marks. She is the daughter of Sachindra Mohan Borah and Suntara Das of Bamunimaidam in the city. She wants to continue her studies either in IIT or medical science.
