GUWAHATI, Oct 8: Prolific writer Arundhati Dutta passed away at 11 pm on Friday at a hospital in New Delhi due to prolonged illness. She was undergoing treatment for the last couple of months at the hospital. Her husband and noted social activist Deven Dutta was beside her when she breathed her last. Apart from being a promising writer, Arundhati Dutta (61) was a popular Assamese news reader in Doordarshan. Daughter of Assam movement leader Nibaran Bora, she was not feeling well for some time, as she was undergoing prolonged treatment for cancer. Many organizations and individuals condoled the death of the writer. Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal condoled the death of the writer. In a condolence message, Sonowal said: "During her life she contributed a lot for our social life. Her write-ups dealt at length on various aspects of our social life. I pray for her eterl peace."
