Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development says that a citizen of India who has attained the age of 14 years is eligible to Register for employment assistance with the Employment Exchange which falls within the area where he/she normally reside. The data in 2023 says that 1.63 million persons are employed. The state of Meghalaya has 11 District Employment Exchanges and 2 Sub-divisional Employment Exchanges.

The Right to Information Act,

The Act provides the Right to Information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities. Since 2005,to promote transparency and accountability under the Central Commission and State Information Commission .
