SBI of NE Circle to Facilitate Wage Payment to Tea Estate Staff

GUWAHATI: The SBI, NE Circle in a bid to facilitate wage payment to the employees of tea garden of Assam launched its operation of opening 11 Customer Service Points (CSPs) in & around various tea gardens in the state of Assam. The CSP at Amchong tea garden under SBI’s Narangi Branch was inaugurated today by the SBI’s northeast Circle’s Chief General Manager Sunil Kumar Tandon in the presence of senior officials of the bank & tea gardens management personnel, whereas, CSPs at other places were also simultaneously inaugurated by Bank’s other senior officials on Oct 1. This is a part of the planned effort that emerged out of the meeting held with the office-bearers of the Indian Tea Association. The CGM addressed the employees of the tea garden and advised for the opening of bank accounts by 100% employees of the tea garden. He also stressed the need for all the employees to be covered under Social Security Schemes of GOI to safeguard their future. In response to that, the General Manager of the Tea Garden assured that all the employees will be covered under SSS within a span of 10 days, stated a press release.
