The bitter tale of the 4 -lane construction

During our one month stay in Dubai, one thing that we could understand well was – once people have a corruption-free state, the state can do wonders for the people with scintillating progresses. Dubai is a glaring example. In fact, of the 7 states that constitute the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai is one of the most advanced. Other states like Sharjah, Abu-Dhabi has also registered spectacular progress. The King of UAE – Mohammad Abdul Al Khalifa, who is the president of UAE, stays in the capital, Abu-Dhabi. We salute the dynamic king who has been successful in making all the constituent states spectacular. Dubai can boast of a number of world records. In Dubai, any project however mega it may be, must be completed within a stipulated time. Else, for the delay of each month, penalty is imposed on the contractor concerned. However, in India, unholy alliance between engineers and contractors is all pervasive. Needless to add, the unholy alliance has tacit blessings of the bureaucrats and ministers. Assam is famous for its progress at a snail's pace. Just let the people suffer due to the ramshackle road condition of National High Ways, by the side of which construction of 4-Lane has been going on, who cares! Only God knows how long the government will take. Do we have the power and the courage to blacklist the firm constructing the 4-Lane? Seemingly, we people are at our wits end.
