Impact of beneficiary creation
The increasing population of our country
has compelled the government to think and rethink how to solve the multifaceted
problems of the citizens. Government's failure to create new jobs either in
government sector or in private sector and their lack of interest in making
long-term problem solving policy has added fuel to the fire to people's misery.
So, in order to divert their concentration from the problems, the government
has mesmerized the people by distributing money and other essential things and
thus has created a beneficiary section. The government is successful to bind
the common people's dreams in 830 rupees and free-of-cost rice. This has made
maximum people less laborious, comfort loving and dependent on others. And for
this during cultivation period and for other homely works there is seen a
scarcity of labourers in every place. But of course, this kind of beneficiary
creation policy may help the ruling party during the election time. But if
the government continues to create such types of beneficiaries like present
time then one day the country will have to take the load of an idle and dull
generation. Instead, the government should make our people competent for work
and independent by creating new job opportunities for them.

Dr. Hiren Gohain's intent was once again exposed when he vouched for Badruddin Ajmal. Dr. Gohain is also the adviser of the Raijor Dol. In a recent statement before the media he advised all the new regional parties to forge an alliance with the AIUDF as he strongly certified that the AIUDF is a secular force that works in the interest of the State. Nobody is shocked to listen to this controversial figure as his past records are testimony to such deeds and thinking regarding the state of Assam. The AIUDF was born to safeguard the interests of illegal foreigners from Bangladesh after the repeal of the draconian IMDT Act. Badruddin Ajmal did object to the NRC update process in Assam.
Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan too toed the same line of Dr. Gohain. Though I am not a supporter of the Raijor Dol, yet I really appreciate the stance taken by Kamal Kumar Medhi as he categorically said no to any alliance with the AIUDF in front of the media. The likes of Dr. Hiren Gohain are in fact a curse to Assam.

Transition of Indian cricket team
On India's historic win against the Aussies and specifically 'The Brisbane (Gabba) Test', I would like to go back 5 years from today.
A question arises in the mind of every Indian: why is this Indian cricket team so technically brilliant even without the top guns being missed throughout the entire Test series?
Since Virat Kohli has taken the burden of captaincy the attitude of Indian cricket team changed to a great extent with an aggressive mind-set of beating "teams in their own backyards". The due credit should not only be given to Virat Kohli. It also goes with the same ratio to Indian cricket team management and Rahul Dravid.
Rahul Dravid took up the role of mentoring U-19 teams and India-A teams in mid-June 2015. And here comes the technical transition. Dravid prepared the juniors to the match demands of International cricketer. Now when an Indian junior cricketer graduates to the senior squad, he no longer looks like a duck out of water at the international stage. The transfer of knowledge is the main key in forming this 'powerhouse' bench strength.
According to statistics, for the first time in the history of cricket a team has used full quota of their 20 players in the winning cause. It defines resilience, grit, formidable character shown with great courage. I have been following every nook and corner of Indian cricket for nearly 15 years. I must say that this current Indian cricket team is totally different. They know how to fight. They are the replicas of Australia's dominating team from 1996 to 2007.

Wrong line
The AASU is again trying to sabotage PM Modi's visit to Sivasagar by declaring to wave black flags. The AASU has truly earned the rare distinction on calling bandhs, dharnas, waving black flags, sit-in, destroying public property and collecting public money. The then general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi, current president Dipanko Nath and evergreen student Samujjal Bhattacharjya allegedly instigated the students to go on rampage in Guwahati during the anti-CAA movement. The trio was sitting in the comfort zone of the Union office giving tall lectures before the press. Later on, it was revealed that the AASU leaders bought in some professional goons and masked them as students to do all the vandalism. Do Dipanko Nath and Sankor J Barua think they are the guardians of us? History suggests that the AASU has always been failure in whatever task they have undertaken and glaring example is the Assam Accord. The AASU take Assam as an independent country and the Union of India has no connection with Assam. Dipanko Nath, Sankor J Barua and advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya should remember that the Union government and the State government are all democratically elected representatives unlike their organization. Any Union minister has every right to visit Assam.
The mid-40 leaders welcome illegal foreigners with green flags but wave black flags to the Prime Minister. Who has given them the authority to be the master of the public? The AASU is one of the reasons for price hike in the State as they are major collector of gunda taxes from the businessmen. Once they make their audit report public everything will be crystal clear. But alas! They don't have the honesty to make it public, otherwise their real face would be unveiled before the public.

Tremendous achievement
Team India achieved something which the great cricketing pundits refused to give them any chance. Who would have thought after the dismal performance in the first pink ball test where the visitors were bundled out for embarrassing 36 runs. The misery of the team didn't end there as the star batsman Virat Kohli returned home seeking paternity leave. Prior to the second test greats of world cricket Mark Waugh, Micheal Vaughan, Ian Healy, Ricky Ponting, and others predicted a whitewash of the visitors. In a remarkable turnaround and great fighting spirit Ajinke Rahane-led team won the second test by 8 wickets much to the delight of the cricket fans back home. The injury concerns continued to haunt the team and in spite of this the team showed great resilience to earn a draw from the jaws of defeat with several players in the playing 11 getting injured in middle of the match. Finally, in the deciding match the management found difficult to field eleven fit players. Two net bowlers Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar were called to make up the playing 11 and the rest is history. This series win over the full strength Aussie team with probably the C team of India and that too in their own territory will be etched in the history books of Indian cricket. Tonnes of salute to the great team.

Declare policy on public holidays
The Supreme Court has raised some questions regarding the Central government's policy of declaring public holidays. The Court wanted to know the policy framework under which the Government announces a public holiday. A PIL complained that the Centre and State governments' arbitrarily notify public holidays mainly to appease segments of population. In the absence of any guiding principle or any authority concerning the declaration of gazetted/public holidays in India, the executive at the behest of political groups declare the holidays at their own whims and fancies and serve the political purpose of appeasement of a particular section of the public. The need of the hour is that the Union government should frame a national policy of declaring public holidays.
