Targeting Brahmins
The spokesperson of Raijor Dol, Kamal Medhi is trying to distort history. He has put serious allegations against the Brahmin Samaj of Nilachal Hills in the battle of Saraighat. Kamal Kumar Medhi in an election rally tried to give full credit to Muslim soldiers for the victory of Great Lachit Borphukann's army. Has he forgotten or trying to hide the bravery of Shims, Nagas, Dimasa, Karni, Kachari warriors who fought under the leadership of Great Lachit Borphukan and defeated the Mughals. Kamal Kumar Medhi must show in which history book it is mentioned about "the betrayal of Brahmin people". If he has problem with Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma politically it's alright but he shouldn't have dragged the entire Brahmin community. It has become a habit for Leftist mindset people to target Hindu people without fact and figures. The day is not far when such people will not hesitate to declare that Assam was originally a Islamist State with Miya people as original inhabitants. They would then brand the indigenous people of the State as foreigners or invaders.

Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan
This famous slogan was coined by former Prime Minister Lt. Lal Bahadur Shastri after India's victory over Pakistan. On January 26, the much popular slogan became irrelevant when the self-proclaimed kisans let loose themselves on the streets of Delhi even up to lowering the sacred Tiranga at historic Red Fort from where every year our duly elected Prime Minister addresses the nation on August 15. The act of vandalism unleashed by the hooligans are in fact the paid agents of Pakistan and China. The professional protesters like Yogendra Yadav are like vultures who pounces upon any opportunity to bite a flesh. The paid agents or the professional protesters should be dealt with iron fists.

Tough Budget
Unarguably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi government faced its toughest Budget since 2014 . Instead of unveiling a tool box of defensive measures, it has opted to keep intact its undampened ambitions of infrastructure development and welfare measures. The Rs. 5.54 lakh crore direct capital expenditure will have considerable knock on effect on real estate and its supporting sectors while broadly maintaining outlays for food, fertilizer and petroleum subsidies and social sector programmes aim to cater to the farm sector and the bottom half of the pyramid. It has rightly heeded to the need for capacity building in health as well as allowed states to borrow more for capital expenditure. The record joblessness also deserved attention, even as the government has put its faith in growth leading to employment.

Farmers' agitation
Let's suppose what the foreign celebrities are saying about the farmer agitation and State reaction are 'false inconsequential baseless'. So India might charge them of issuing 'false propaganda' or 'poking into the internal affairs' of the country. But what do the hard reality and conscience of Indians say — All is well.
The cricketing and Bollywood celebrities are being seen to jump into the fray and going all out to defend the Government of the day with zealous slogans of 'India Together'. If they are indeed proud of the togetherness of the countrymen, then it may be asked why do their conscience go into hibernation mode when innocent farmers are dying in the biting cold of Delhi border in regular intervals with toll marching towards the figure of hundred. Goons are assaulting them with stones, food providers of the nation being demonized as Khalistani terrorists who include innumerable innocent children and senior citizens as well. Now along with power and internet; even the most crucial lifeline i.e. water supply connections are also being cruelly snapped.
Instead of trying to sweep uncomforting questions and issues plaguing India under the nationalist carpet and character assassinate the farmers who hold every democratic right to protest against the farm laws in non-violent mode, it is high time the self-declared patriots of India indulge in a bit of introspection and contemplate whether the issues raised by the farmers are indeed not genuine and whether they are not being subjected to crude name-calling character assassination and inhuman behaviour.
Also the patriots should know that issues can never be internal or external, rather issues need to be segregated into humanitarian and in-humanitarian irrespective of national/international boundary. This is the reason why India very rightly took up the cudgel for the citizens of erstwhile East Pakistan facing genocide or the world had boycotted South Africa for decades due to the apartheid. After all at the end of the day we are all citizens of the world with humanity being our main identity.
Lastly, it is high time the Indian celebrities put in their right places. We must respect them for their excellence or contribution in their respective field of profession but never do they form conscience or moral guardians of the nation. So neither should they be treated as Gods or Idols to be worshipped nor their comments be taken very seriously specially on sensitive national issues.

House for
migrant workers
The Surat Urban Development Authority has decided to provide nearly 400 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) on rent to migrant workers. The Affordable Rental Housing Scheme (ARHC) has recently been approved by the Union Ministry of Urban Affairs and Housing. The ARHC is a sub-scheme of the PMAY announced last year, and Surat will be the first to be implementing it. The proposal is to convert 396 houses built under the PMAY (urban). The labourers stay in rented premises sharing rooms with other labourers in the colonies to reduce the expenses of house rent. This is a welcome initiative. Hope that all State governments construct more houses for the migrant workers. Such housing facilities may also help to prevent reverse migrations of workers.

Street dogs
post-lockdown
As a result of the lockdown, road accidents involving street dogs have increased in Guwahati city in the past few days.
Most shelter homes for street dogs located in the different parts of the city have become overcrowded. Further, accidents have claimed the lives of the puppies across the city in the recent days. So we request the authorities concerned to take necessary action on the issue so that road accidents decrease due to stray dogs.

Role of media
What happened on Republic Day was unfortunate both for the country and for the real protesters (farmers) who have been bearing with the harsh weather and other hostilities for two months to get their demands met. What is more unfortunate and worrisome is the role of media. Most media houses covered the incidents of violence and the hoisting of flags atop the Red Fort by a few people whom the main Kisan unions have disowned. Sadly, almost all channels missed showing glimpses of the actual tractor parade which went as per plan and route. Where does a person look for to satisfy their curiosity before forming any opinion? The role of television media needs serious introspection.
