A new messiah?

After a long time, Yogendra Yadav, the baseless and rootless so-called messiah, made his appearance in Guwahati at the invitation of a combined opposition headed by Ajit Bhuyan, Hiren Gohain, Akhil Gogoi, etc., to name a few who need no introduction to any bona fide Axomiya. In a press conference, he branded the RSS as anti-national, along with the BJP, even though the RSS is not a political party. But what about his own dossier? Can he cite one example of when and from where he won any election, be it a panchayat or municipality, leaving aside any assembly or parliamentary election? Inviting such baseless leaders as Yogendra Yadav might boomerang on the combined opposition.

Your vote, your campus

Our votes are not mere marks on a ballot; they are the pulse of our democratic tradition and the cornerstone of our shared governance. Voting is the tool we possess to influence the trajectory of our university, to ensure our values and vision are represented, and to uphold the democratic ethos we uphold.

Yet, recent trends show a decline in the number of students who actively participate in shaping our campus leadership. Every vote carries weight, and our participation is essential.

The strength of our voices will determine the leadership that will guide us in the coming year. Let us stand together as active participants in shaping the future of Gauhati University. Every vote counts, and your participation is the catalyst for change.

May our decisions reverberate within our organization, reflecting the democratic values we uphold.

The importance of affordable and quality education for all

Education is the foundation for a better future. It is the key to unlocking individual and societal potential. It empowers people to think critically, make informed decisions, and contribute to their communities. Education is the bridge that can break the cycle of poverty, inequality, and social injustice. Unfortunately, many students in our state have limited access to quality education due to financial constraints, which ultimately hampers their personal growth and limits their potential contributions to society. It is essential to recognize that education should not be a privilege solely reserved for the elite but a fundamental right accessible to every individual. However, not everyone has access to affordable and high-quality education. In Assam, there are still many children who are out of school or attending schools that lack adequate resources. This is a major challenge that needs to be addressed.

There are many benefits to affordable and high-quality education. It helps people develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the workforce. It also helps to reduce poverty and inequality. Additionally, education can help promote social cohesion and democracy.

The government of Assam has made some progress in recent years in expanding access to education. However, more needs to be done to ensure that all children have access to affordable and high-quality education.

Affordability is a key factor that determines whether a student can pursue education or not. High tuition fees, coupled with the additional costs of textbooks, transportation, and other academic necessities, often become insurmountable obstacles for economically disadvantaged families. This results in a large number of eager and talented students being forced to abandon their aspirations due to financial burdens. It is imperative that governments and educational institutions work together to develop policies that provide financial assistance, scholarships, and grants to ensure that no student is denied an education due to their economic circumstances.

However, affordability alone would not fulfil our pursuit of quality education. Both factors are intertwined and equally important. A high-quality education equips students with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities necessary to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. It fosters creativity, innovation, and adaptability that are essential for personal development and a prosperous society. Consequently, it is incumbent upon the government and educational institutions to invest in infrastructure, curricula, and teaching methodologies that ensure a high standard of education is delivered across all institutions, regardless of geographic location or socio-economic background.

Furthermore,to eradicate gender disparities in education, the provision of a high-quality education must be accompanied by holistic efforts. We need to promote inclusive learning environments that empower girls and encourage their participation in education. Girls' education is not just a matter of gender equality but an investment in the overall development of society. By educating girls, we not only guarantee them a brighter future but also create a positive ripple effect that uplifts families, communities, and the nation as a whole.

In conclusion, affordable and high-quality education is the key to unlocking the door of opportunity, social mobility, and progress for individuals and our beloved state of Assam. It is essential that we recognize its significance and prioritize investments in education to secure a brighter future for all. The time has come to bridge the education gap and ensure that no student is left behind due to financial constraints or circumstances beyond their control.
