Role of information and communication in education
Information and communication technology plays a pivotal role in the dissemination of quality education. Keeping that in mind, the state government appointed a good number of computer teachers in various High Schools and Higher secondary schools of Assam in 2004 under Rajib Gandhi Computer Literacy Programme. Out of these teachers, 1328 teachers were later appointed as ICT instructors in 2017. These instructors have been relentlessly performing their academic duties and also assisting the schools in other official works. However, they are paid a meagre amount as remuneration without any job security like other categories of teachers. They have been undergoing severe financial hardships which will definitely act as a stumbling block for them in delivering their duties efficiently. I, therefore, request the state government to provide them ROP and job security till they attain 60 years of age. BJP’s Vision Document 2016 prioritized this issue, and it is high time the party stalwarts too intervened in this matter for a feasible solution.
