It is highly welcome that the Assam Government has directed private educational institutions-from pre-primary level to class 12- to waive off 25 per cent school fee from May for imparting education to the students till formal and physical opening of the institutions. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, income of citizens has been badly affected and they are not in a position to pay school fees. The Government is of the opinion that there has to be a concession of minimum 25 per cent of the monthly fees for the students studying in schools and colleges from pre-primary level to class 12 during the period from May 1 till the formal and physical opening of the institutions. The order was issued on August 14 before the 74th Independence day.
