On the occasion of ‘World Science Day for Peace and Development’ on November 10
If the world is a melody, science is the reverberation of the beautiful rhythms and fine tones! This is the reason why, science has been the fascination of all the artistes, poets and human beings who feel that the earth is not simply a crust of rock, rather, a waterfall, which is taking the moulds on its own by considering the beauty prevailing forever. That’s the reason why we see Kaviguru sitting beside Einstein visualizing the world in their own imaginations and physicist literary crying seeing the abstracts of the paints of the artists. Thus, science being the basic philosophy of experimental observation and firm belief that come through in course of civilization, has been the great fascination for all the humans across the world due to its practical tie with the breath and smiles of humans. Over a period of time, although the scientific re-generations have proven to be touching and being deep rooted to the world, the more understanding in the global platform is still a leap the earth is to make so as to attain the glory of this beautiful melody. This year, while United Nations decides the theme as, Science for Global Understanding for the world science day for peace and development, the earth can possibly be found in a re-invented ground of this melodious gift called 'science'.
As the communication strategies across the world take a drastic drift, the human connection has been so vast and rapid that the scientific inventions have started to re-occur in the minute’s turn. So happens in the minds of the people, their behaviour and way of thinking the approaches in any endevours. You don’t have to sit in a tutorial class for the operation of software now; rather, the software will make you learned. This has been human’s deep rooted exploration and adaptive capability with the bravery in their minds which leads to think that possibilities are not only so far. This, probably be the greatest feat the field of science has earned in washing off the fear of impossibilities, rather, catered to the growth of analyzing mindset of the world. And, the paradigm shift in the approaching behaviour of the humans towards any problem has resulted in the possible remedies of the ills. As a result, humans have taken science to a larger extent as a tool of the luxurious need rather than the necessity. As a result, there has been widespread revolution in the human condition, the global understanding of the effort of the scientists and the fields of science in all sectors of the world.
Science for global understanding - although science acts as the humanity’s one of the path breaking journeys, the concept of global understanding is still fighting hard and scientists’ effort to reach it to the grass and dust is still underway. Thus, the concept I’ve mentioned in the ''paradigm shift' of the analyzing mindset of people, fear of impossibilities, approaching behaviour etc are seen in a faint picture in the global landscape. As a result of which, the global understanding is facing the challenges in the form of slow economic growth, mismanaged social inter-connection, remoteness and lack of infrastructural developments etc. And, deep down the trench of the scientific motifs, the 'human penetration' is still being narrowed in the bottleneck condition.
As set by the UNO, the objectives herein are, (a) strengthen public awareness on the role of science for peaceful and sustainable societies, (b) promote national and international solidarity for shared science between countries, (c) renew national and international commitment for the use of science for the benefit of societies and (d) draw attention to the challenges faced by science and raising support for the scientific endeavors. As the challenges become more prominent, the regional co-operation has been stressed along with the factor termed "sustainability'. This has been the recent concern of the all the projects and endevours are being made in the world, which reframes the vital dimension of the globe, now. This can now also be regarded that the non-availability of full fledged infrastructural plans related to science in any nation is prone to failure of the underpinning strategies of welfare. It can also now be regarded that a country’s basic needs have resulted in the form of proper scientific strategies and rooted touches. In its absence , the nation indirectly creates a 'hampering hole' in the concept called global understanding of science. Because, a single country’s failure in making this to happen is the failure of science and the entire world.
Developmental agendas have already been set, or being implemented. Peace is what the power of science can definitely reflect in all sectors of life, while the need is for a pragmatic and planned effort of the humans. The violent waves in the name of rape, molestation and human trafficking etc which have curbed in a significant margin by scientific innovations, the full proof plans are yet to set in across the world. As the century changes, the way humans were seen happy with the discovery of penicillin, that vigor is now evident in the innovation of some android application so as to check the human life’s ills and social terrorism. This example clearly indicates that the expectations are more in the humans with respect to the prosperity of the peace and health. At the same time, issues like denuclearization, checking of the climate change, implementation of renewable energy etc. are what the countries need to reflect in the scientific plans. Only then, the developmental agendas would reflect peace in the world and science would remain as the greatest melody the humans have ever been gifted with.
