GUWAHATI: Popular singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Sunday evening in Guwahati during his performance. The tribute came days after Dr. Singh, a celebrated economist and statesman, died at 92 years of age in Delhi due to a long illness.
During the event, part of Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati tour, the artist reflected on Singh’s life and character. Addressing the audience, Dosanjh highlighted the former leader’s simplicity and grace, stating, “Even in the face of criticism, he refrained from negative responses or speaking ill of others, a rare quality in politics.” He encouraged the younger generation to take inspiration from Singh’s conduct and humility.
The concert was in the memory of Dr. Singh and later Dosanjh uploaded the video of the tribute on Instagram, emphasizing the need to learn from the values and achievements of the late leader.
Manmohan Singh, known for his transformative impact on India, served as the Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, spearheading economic reforms that reshaped the nation’s future. As India’s 13th Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, his tenure was marked by efforts to modernize the country’s infrastructure and strengthen its global position.
After leaving public life in 2014, Singh continued to be a shining example of integrity and dedication to India's progress. Dosanjh's tribute was full of emotion and reminded all of the great legacy that had been left behind by the former Prime Minister.
