MUMBAI: Vikrant Massey recently caused a stir with a social media post that suggested he would retire from acting after 2025. However, a day later, he clarified that his words had been misinterpreted, explaining that he was not retiring, but simply taking a much-needed break due to burnout. He also mentioned that his health had been affected, though he did not specify the exact ailment.

In an interview with the media, Vikrant said, “I’m not retiring… Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home and health is also acting up… People misread it.”

In his social media post on Monday, Vikrant had written, “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal, But as I move forward, I realize it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son and also as an Actor. So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right.”

Many in the film industry were surprised by his announcement, especially given that Vikrant is at the peak of his career. Some expressed sympathy, while others, like his Haseen Dillruba co-star Harshvardhan Rane, speculated it might be a PR move. “I’m praying this is just some PR activity forced on him by some filmmaker,” Harshvardhan remarked.

On Monday evening, Vikrant attended a special screening of his film The Sabarmati Report with prominent figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He declined to comment further on his retirement plans.

In 2023, Vikrant starred in the hit drama 12th Fail, which became the biggest solo success of his career. This month, a behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of 12th Fail, titled Zero Se Restart, will be released in theaters. Vikrant initially rose to fame with television roles before transitioning to films like A Death in the Gunj and Lootera.
