Won't you take me here and everywhere?"-As the lyrics of this ethereal music number by Voodoo Child (music band) goes, music indeed takes us to places and delights our souls. A band whose name would remind one of the popular song by renowned American musician Jimi Hendrix, Voodoo Child has been winning the hearts of people in the state and north eastern region since 2002. In a state that favours regional music more, the true fans of Rock have kept bands like Voodoo Child going and they in return have given the people a taste of the wonderful genre that Rock is.

With roots that can be traced to the late 1940's and early 1950's, Rock music is a broad genre that originated as Rock and Roll in the United States. Rock and Roll, as a style essentially drew inspiration from African-American music and country music. The genre also evolved by drawing inspiration from a variety of other genres like electric blues and folk, jazz and classical etc.
