Taipei: Taiwan's Ministry of Defence (MND) on Saturday detected 17 sorties of PLA aircraft and detected 7 PLAN vessels operating around its territory.
As per the MND, 8 out of 17 sorties crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's southwestern ADIZ.
The Defence Ministry stated that it has taken note of the situation and responded accordingly.
MND wrote on X, "17 sorties of PLA aircraft and 7 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 8 out of 17 sorties crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's southwestern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded accordingly."
On Friday, 26 sorties of PLA aircraft, 7 PLAN vessels and one official ship were recorded operating around Taiwan's territory. Earlier on Thursday, MND noted a record surge in Chinese military activity, with 48 PLA aircraft, 9 PLAN vessels, and one official ship.
The frequent incursions and maritime operations reflect rising tensions between Taiwan and China, a relationship long fraught with geopolitical strain. Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC), governs itself independently with its own political and economic systems. (ANI)
