LAS VEGAS: A fatal explosion occurred involving a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday, killing one and injuring seven. The FBI is looking into the explosion, which occurred just outside the glass entrance of the hotel.
The authorities thought it might be connected to the other occurrences in their initial review. However, President Joe Biden said that there was no connection between the previous attack on New Orleans and that explosion at all.
The cause of the explosion was explained by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who said it had nothing to do with the car itself. Musk said that large fireworks and/or a bomb placed in the bed of the Cybertruck were responsible for the explosion. “All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion,” Musk wrote in a post on X.
Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill confirmed that the explosion occurred after the vehicle was parked at the hotel entrance. The vehicle filled with gasoline, camping fuel canisters, and large fireworks ignited and detonated in a series of smaller blasts. The large boom was unable to shatter the glass doors of the hotel as the truck's design forced most of the impact upward.
The authorities are still investigating the explosion incident, which officials at the FBI said was an isolated case. The driver was inside the vehicle during the explosion and was confirmed dead, while seven others were lightly injured.
