LONDON: Kontham Tejaswini, the 27 year-old woman from India’s Hyderabad, who was killed in London by a Brazilian national, was set to get married this year and her death has now left her family heartbroken.
Tejaswini had told her parents that she will be getting married this year upon her return from the United Kingdom after completing her studies. She was studying for her MS degree in the UK.
Her family was given the information that she was the victim of an attack in the flat where she was residing, a shared accommodation in London. The 27 year-old woman from Hyderabad was killed by a Brazilian national, who has since been arrested by the Metropolitan Police.
Metropolitan Police in the UK are yet to formally identify the victim but reports from India suggested that the murdered woman was a young professional named Kontham Tejaswini, hailing from Hyderabad's Hayathnagar area.
Tejaswini was allegedly fatally stabbed at the accommodation in London where she was residing on a shared basis, the police said. Another 28 year-old woman was also stabbed in the horrifying incident but her injuries were not life- threatening, according to the police.
"Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and two women were treated for stab injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency services, a 27-year-old woman sadly died at the scene. Her next of kin are yet to be informed," the Met Police said.
According to the Met police, two men have been arrested for their connection with the murder that happened at a residential property in Neeld Crescent, in London’s Wembley on Tuesday. According to a relative of Tejaswini, a 23-year-old Brazilian national called Keven Antonio Lourenco De Morais had moved into the shared accommodation with her less than a week back. Morais is the prime suspect in the knifing case and he has been apprehended, says the police.
London’s Metropolitan Police had earlier released an image of the Brazilian national Keven Antonio Lourenco De Morais, seeking the public's help to trace the suspect allegedly behind the attack. He has now been arrested from the Harrow area, which is located near the crime scene at Neeld Crescent in London’s Wembley.
Meanwhile, in India, Tejaswini's father reportedly told a news channel that the family had been informed of the incident this morning and that they were told Tejaswini was injured and in hospital. He also informed that his daughter had first gone to London three years ago to study for her Master's degree.
He also said she had come home for a month last year in August and was scheduled to come back last month for her marriage. She was supposed to fly down to her home in May this year, he said.
In the meantime, the victim's uncle has requested the government to make the necessary arrangements required to bring her body back from the UK to Hyderabad.
