The world's largest cargo plane made in Ukraine named Mriya is destroyed by the Russian forces following their strikes in an airport near Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian authorities, the aircraft 'Antonov-225 Mriya' got burnt as the Russian troops opened fire at Antonov airspace located in Hostomel town in Ukraine.
The Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba informed that the Ukrainian aircraft which is Ukrainian for the dream was hit by Russian armies while it was in an airfield near Kyiv.
Minister Kuleba further said that Russia might destroy Ukranain made biggest plane 'Mriya' but they can never destroy their dream of a strong, free and democratic European state.
The state arms manufacturer in Ukraine, Ukroboronprom informed that the aircraft was burnt following the bombing by Russian soldiers at the time when it was undergoing maintenance work in the airfield.
Antonov Enterprises Aircraft manufacturer stated it cannot report about the technical condition of the plane 'Antonov-225 Mriya' until it is reviewed by experts in the field.
Meanwhile, Russia has not yet confirmed the attacks in Ukraine's airport publicly but last week heavy fighting was seen at the northwest part of Kyiv in Hostomel airfield. The attacks have resulted in major airstrike damage and grass fires close to the Antonov airport.
The Antonov-225 Mriya is said to be designed during the 1980s and is regarded as the longest, biggest and heaviest among all aircraft across the world.
The state arms manufacturer said that the plane's restoration was estimated to cost 3 billion US dollars and it took 5 years to complete.
In an official statement by the arms manufacturer, it was stated that it will work to ensure that the amount is covered by the Russian Federation that caused intentional damage to the air cargo sector.
