Since my childhood, I have grown up listening to evergreen songs like “Moina Kun Bidhataii Hajile tumar Podum Soku ti,” “Ki nam di matim tumak,” and others with my grandmother. And this was the time I explored Assamese movies like “Joymoti” and “Hiya Diya Niya.”

But, movies, particularly Bollywood movies, have influenced me heavily. I followed Bollywood whole-heartedly along with all the artistes, celebrities, and everything in between. The first movie I watched was “Home Alone.” I realised that I am one of those who are fond of movies. But since then I have seen that the Assamese cinema fails as a commercial enterprise in Assam. Also, the outbreak of Covid-19 sets the drawback in it.

And with so many expectations, high hopes, and enthusiasm around, Dr. Bezbaruah 2 was released in theatres on February 3, 2023. Dr. Bezbaruah 2 is an Assamese movie written by Rajdweep and directed by Nipon Goswami. This movie is a sequel to “Dr. Bezbaruah,” which was released in 1969. The movie has veteran actors Nipon Goswami, Zubeen Garg, Adil Hussain, and Siddharth Nipon Goswami in the lead roles, along with Arun Hazarika, Madhurima Choudhury, and Kingkini Goswami. The movie’s music was composed by Zubeen Garg.

Dr. Bezbaruah 2 is adding a unique spice to Assamese cinema and sets a benchmark. The movie pulled a box office of 41.2 lakhs in its first day of the screening. Talking about the movie, it is a suspense thriller, and the storyline is great. The cinematography, direction, action, and stunts are highly appreciable.

Zubeen Garg da never disappoints us in his music as well in his acting. The role played by him, I feel, has added more spice to the film. Also, the music section is extraordinary, as the movie adds new tunes to the old songs of Dr. Bezbaruah. As remaking of evergreen old songs is not easy but it seems that the songs of this movie groove into the people’s mind. And the songs “Ki Nam Di Matim” and “Koina Kun Bidhata” are setting a trend on various social media platforms.

The role played by Adil Hussain is great as always and justifies the movie’s title. And the role played by Shiddharth Nipon Goswami mesmerized people. Along with the direction, veteran actor Nipon Goswami plays a role that made me emotional as he is no more.

I feel that it creates a bit of confusion in the first half of the story as it follows a non-linear pattern. Otherwise, the movie added a great flavour. And saying thank you to Zubeen Garg would be less who has contributed a lot to this industry.
