ANAND: One of the most iconic milk and dairy product brands in the country, Amul has decided to hike the prices of all the varieties of milk. As per the announcement, these changes come into effect from February 3 onwards.
The announcement came from the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd, which handles the management of Anand Milk Union Limited or Amul. The announcement mentioned that the prices of all the varieties of milk pouches have been increased by the organisation.
The new prices were mentioned to be effective from the batch that is processed on the night of February 2 and made available to the public on the morning of February 3. The prices have been hiked by up to Rs 3 per litre of milk.
As per the new rates, the following are the new prices for different varieties of milk from Amul. Amul Taaza 500 ml - Rs 27, Amul Taaza 1 Itr - Rs 54, Amul Taaza 2 ltr - Rs 108, Amul Taaza 6 ltr - Rs 324, Amul Taaza 180 ml - Rs 10, Amul Gold 500 ml- Rs 33, Amul Gold 1 Itr - Rs 66, Amul Gold 6 Itr - Rs 396, Amul Cow Milk 500 ml - Rs 28, Amul Cow Milk 1 Itr - Rs 56, Amul A2 Buffalo Milk 500 ml - Rs 35, Amul Buffalo Milk 1 ltr - Rs 70 and Amul A2 Buffalo Milk 6 Itr Rs 420
This is the first hike in milk prices by Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd in the year 2023. The organisation had hiked the milk prices three times in the last year. Citing higher input as well as production costs, the company hiked the milk prices in March, August and October last year.
Amul plays a good role in the dairy market of Guwahati. Different sizes of Amul Tazza and Amul Gold are among the highest-selling products in the region. While unbranded milk caters to a huge chunk of the demand for milk in the region, the local West Assam Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Ltd, branded as Purabi Dairy also enjoys a dominating section of the market of city.
