CBSE to Conduct 10th & 12th Exams in 15,000 Schools to Ensure Social Distancing

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' has announced that the upcoming class 10 and 12 CBSE exams will now be held in 15,000 centres across the country instead of the 3,000 centres planned earlier. The decision has been taken to ensure social distancing at exam centres and minimise travel for the board-appearing students.

HRD ministry has also announced that students will appear for exams at schools in which they are enrolled rather than external examination centres. Additionally, examinations will not be held in coronavirus containment zones.

The exams were deferred after the Centre called for a nationwide lockdown to mitigate the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus contagion.

What Students Need to Know:

The papers of the Class 12 CBSE exams which were postponed due to COVID-19 lockdown will be held from July 1 to July 15 . The exams of Class 10 students from the northeast part of Delhi, delayed due to several incidents of violence over the Citizenship Amendment Act protests, will also be held during the time period. The results are likely to be declared in August. Last year, the CBSE Class 12 result was declared on May 2 and class 10 result was announced on May 6.

The pending exams of class 12 will be conducted from July 1 to 15 and the exams will be held only for 29 major papers. The class 12 students will appear for these papers: Business Studies, Geography, Hindi (Core), Hindi (Elective), Home Science, Sociology, Computer Science (Old), Computer Science (New), Information Practice (Old), Information Practice (New), Information Technology and Bio-Technology.

The Northeast Delhi students will appear for these papers: Hindi Course A, Hindi Course B, English Comm, English Language and Literature, Science, Social Science. As a health advisory, candidates who will appear for the exams, have been asked to carry sanitisers to the exam hall in transparent bottles and candidates have been urged to cover their noses and mouths with a mask or a piece of cloth. Parents have also been urged to supervise their wards in regards to sanitary measures.
