NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Thursday that students who are unable to appear for the board exam on March 15 due to Holi celebrations can take a special exam.

This special exam, usually held after the regular exams, is mainly arranged for students participating in sports.

CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj informed the media that while Holi will be celebrated on March 14 in most parts of the country, some areas will either celebrate on March 15 or have festivities continuing into that day.

Bhardwaj stated that, based on feedback, the exams will proceed as scheduled. However, students unable to attend on February 15 will have the option to take the exam on a later date.

He added that these students would be allowed to take the exam alongside those scheduled for a special examination, as per the board’s policy for students involved in national or international sports events.

Meanwhile, earlier last month, the Ministry of Education initiated discussions with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) regarding the implementation of two board examinations per academic year, starting in the next session.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the meeting on social media, stating that the proposed scheme would soon be open for public consultation by the CBSE. The initiative aimed to create a more stress-free learning environment for students.
