GANDHINAGAR: Trees were uprooted in large numbers, power outages were reported in many areas, and life was completely disrupted by destructive cyclone Biparjoy on Thursday in Gujarat's Kutch district. However, as it moved further north, it started to lose strength early on Friday. The National Disaster Response Force, or NDRF, reported that two people died before the'very violent' cyclonic storm made landfall in Gujarat's coastal areas on Thursday evening in addition to at least 23 other injuries.
Cyclone Biparjoy, which proceeded towards the desert state after making landfall in Gujarat on Thursday, caused heavy rain to fall in a number of locations in the Jalore and Barmer districts of Rajasthan, according to officials.
According to a representative of the meteorological department, some locations experienced 60–70 mm of rain on Thursday night, and exceptionally heavy rain is expected to pour on Friday in the districts and nearby areas. Jalore and Barmer have received a "red" notice from the department. The locations where the alert has been sounded may have more than 200 mm of rainfall.
.Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister of Gujarat, and the prime minister, Narendra Modi, spoke on the phone to assess the situation. PM Modi also inquired about the specifics of the lions and other wild animals' safety measures in Gir Forest.
The cyclonic storm made landfall close to Jakhau Port on Thursday evening, but it quickly lost strength. By 2:30 am on Friday, the IMD reported that the storm was still packing winds of 100 km/h with gusts as high as 110 km/h.
On the other hand, Mandvi town experienced a complete loss of power. Due to the severe gusts, many trees were uprooted on the Jakhau-Mandvi road and in Mandvi town. District collector Amit Arora stated that no casualties had been reported as of yet.
The Western Railway reported that 99 trains that pass through, originate in, or end in Gujarati communities affected by Biparjoy will continue to be cancelled or short-terminated.
According to the Gujarati government, 1 lakh individuals left coastal and low-lying districts to seek shelter.
