NEW DELHI: In a significant crackdown on illegal immigration network, Delhi Police arrested 11 individuals, including document forgers, Aadhaar operators, and tech experts, responsible for creating counterfeit IDs and documents for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
The gang operated a fake website that was used to produce forged Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards, and other essential documents, enabling Bangladeshis to establish a false identity in India.
The operation was launched following directions from the Delhi LG Secretariat to identify and take stringent action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the city. The arrested individuals were involved in creating fake identification documents, which were crucial for assisting immigrants to gain entry into India.
The accused used jungle routes and express trains to facilitate the illegal movement of people from Bangladesh into Delhi, offering them fake Aadhaar cards, temporary SIM cards, and funds for their travel expenses.
The case unravelled during the investigation of the murder of Sentu Sheikh, alias Raja, in Sangam Vihar on October 21. The police initially arrested four Bangladeshis who were implicated in the murder. Upon further interrogation, the suspects revealed information about a broader immigration racket operating in the city.
The arrested Bangladeshis, identified as Midul Miyan alias Akash Ahmed, Fardeen Ahmed alias Abhi Ahmed, and two women, who had been living in Delhi for over a year using fake Indian identification documents.
During questioning, they revealed their real Bangladeshi identification papers, which led police to uncover the network responsible for creating counterfeit Indian documents.
In a major breakthrough, police discovered 21 Aadhaar cards, 4 voter ID cards, and 8 PAN cards, all suspected to belong to Bangladeshi nationals, from the deceased's residence. This evidence exposed an elaborate system of document forgers and tech experts operating within the city to facilitate illegal immigration.
